Parul Zaveri, with a Diploma in Architecture from CEPT, Ahmedabad in 1978, has supplemented her studies with specific courses in the Urban Settlement Design in Developing Countries programme, at MIT, Cambridge (USA) in 1975-76. She has also pursued interests in Alternative Technologies and use of Solar Energies and Recycling at Arcosanti & at Cosanti Foundations, with architect-philosopher Paolo Soleri in Arizona, U.S.A.She has been recipient of the Fellowship of Chicago Cultural Centre in 1995, to pursue her interests in the Frank Lloyd Wrights designed buildings in Chicago and the State of Illinois.She has given numerous talks/lectures on a wide range of issues and concerns that have been delivered at various universities/organizations.
At present she is focusing on disseminating the knowledge through various publications, lectures and archiving their works such as Udaivilas, Torrent research centre to name a few. She is now focusing on advising on creating built environments for human comfort with sustainable and contextual solutions, such as limiting the use of mechanical systems in buildings and promoting the conservation of India’s cultural heritage through the revival and survival of Traditional Knowledge and Wisdom. Additionally, she is a member of the Heritage Conservation Committee of Ahmedabad and GICEA.
For the last 20 years she has been doing Organic and Biodynamic Farming, at her Kanika Organic Farm near Ahmedabad. She is involved in organizations like the Organic Farming Association of India (OFAI), the Madhya Gujarat Sajiv Kheti Group, and Srishti.
Abhikram is dedicated to responsible architecture, integrating sustainability, heritage conservation, and traditional wisdom into contemporary design. Our mission is to create contextual, resource-efficient environments that prioritize functionality, comfort, and cultural continuity.
