“To conserve and refurbish a 60–70-year-old Art Deco residence, to suit present day lifestyle and cool it using passive means.”

Removal of paint from original wooden staircase, railings, doors and windows finished with polish, opaque railing of passage above is converted into a wood and glass railing bringing in more light into central double height area, which was a courtyard, covered 20 years ago.Designed new furniture, flooring, window glazing and lighting fixtures as a response to, and inspired by Art Deco style of the residence. Unused garage has been converted into an extra bedroom unit. Central double height area is passive cooled and used as formal living area.

Overall ambience has been converted into an awe-inspiring, warm and inviting Art Deco interior space with judicious use of wood polish &colours of stones, veneers, laminates, upholstery and cushions. A gloomy space can turn into a lively, grand and welcoming space with thoughtful interventions.
