A detailed study, of constituents of Heritage fabric, i.e., natural and manmade elements, their complex interwoven relationship, like warp and weft of textile fabric was done. Identified causes of decay to Heritage Fabric, most of which occurred in 21st century, namely due to transportation modes, disharmony of built environment, emerging typologies of built forms, urban spaces and planning principles and Mega Housing Projects.

Identified vision for each element of Heritage fabric, its conservation objectives/ principal guidelines and required studies. Directions identified for urban growth, socioeconomic development, whilst retaining continuity of

traditional knowledge and survival of processes connected with it, for better utilisation and saving of resources involved.

Roles and responsibilities of all involved from an individual to government agencies, with their respective “Achar Samhitas” defined and illustrated demonstrative examples for better impact, understanding.

This document laid foundation of Jaipur Virasat Foundation and Jaipur Virasat Festival, aimed at revival of cultural heritage in totality and to understand community aspirations. Its spinoffs are Jaipur Literature Fest, Momasar Festival, Jodhpur Music Festival and several other festivals in Rajasthan. For the first time in history of India, Government of Rajasthan allocated Rs. 50 Crore for conservation works of Jaipur and Amber from Rs. 500 Crore fund for the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project.
